Executive Summary
Alachua County BOCC partnered with the March of Dimes this year to help raise funds for the annual March for Babies event, and our efforts were a great success! Our goal was to raise $2,000, but we were able to beat that by almost $300! In total, the BOCC team was able to raise $2,286 to help the March of Dimes in its fight against premature birth, as well as helping all babies live normal and healthy lives. Our efforts would not have been near the success they were without the dedication of the BOCC team members. Chele Aulabaugh, Crystal Howard, Donna Murray, Sally Palmi, Matt O’Brien, Mary Neiberger, Mandy Nichols and Lori Hiebert were incredible in their dedication to the cause and worked exceedingly hard in trying to realize our goals. Matt O’Brien and Lori Hiebert in particular were kind enough to take time away from their own March of Dimes duties as ambassadors to help us organize and bring attention to the cause. David Velez was also very kind to share the story of his son’s birth with BOCC and help illustrate what the March of Dimes does and how they helped him. As part of our efforts to raise funds, we conducted silent auctions that included items donated to us by area businesses. These businesses deserve to be recognized for their generosity in aiding us with reaching our fundraising goal. The Hippodrome, Ameila’s Fine Italian Dining, Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille, AP Limousine Service, The Florida Museum of Natural History, Simply Gorgeous Stationary and Gifts and the Southwest Downtown Parking Garage all kindly gave to our team.
