Executive Summary
There are four county-appointed vacancies for private sector seats on the Florida Works Board (formerly known as the Alachua/Bradford Regional Workforce Board), and one county appointed vacancy for the Economic Development seat. Four citizens have been nominated.

Background
The Interlocal Agreement for the Florida Works Board concerns the operation, administration and membership of the Workforce Board, whose members serve three-year terms. With respect to the membership, the Agreement establishes a 37-member board with fifteen seats appointed solely by Alachua County, another six seats appointed solely by Bradford County and sixteen “dual seats” appointed by both counties through a four-member Commission Consortium made up of two Commissioners from Alachua County and two Commissioners from Bradford County. However, in this request, the new appointments are for seats appointed solely by Alachua County. As per the terms of the Interlocal Agreement Amendment #3 with Florida Works (approved by BoCC on April 24, 2007), the existing vacancies have been advertised by Florida Works at area chambers of commerce. Private Sector: term ending June 2010, Seat #5: no applications at this time. Private Sector, seats #1, #6 and #7: confirm nominations of three to terms ending June 2011, : 1) Curtis Paris 2) Jim Painter 3) Kenneth McGurn Economic Development: confirm nomination of one to a term ending June 2011, Seat #28: 1) Sonia Douglas

Issues
In accordance with the terms of the Interlocal Agreement Amendment #3, which governs appointments to this board, there are no set limits to the number of terms a member may serve.
