Senior Services

Alachua County's Division of Senior Services provides three distinct services to the citizens of Alachua County.

  1. Senior Services offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities to people who are 55+ years of age. Two different programs are managed by the division which include the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the Foster Grandparent Program (FGP). Both of these are grant funded federal programs administered through the "Corporation of National and Community Services." The two programs combined manage over 700 volunteers in over 90 different sites throughout the county. The programs offer a number of benefits to their volunteers.
  2. Senior Services also encourages the collaboration of agencies and programs serving people through sharing information, focusing on meeting existing and future needs, and enhancing services while avoiding duplication among providers.
  3. The third service provided by the Division of Senior Services is to share information with the public about programs and opportunities which are available to persons aged 55+ in Alachua County. The staff handle hundreds of phone calls annually, and make presentations to various groups about the two volunteer programs and other services which are available.

VISION

Senior Services will be viewed as a community leader and advocate for persons aged 55+.

MISSION
