Environmental Review

The goal of our EPD's Environmental Review staff is to protect natural resources from development activities that would significantly damage the ecological integrity of Alachua County.

Our staff is part of the County's Development Review Committee (DRC), which is a technical committee that reviews development proposals and final site plans for consistency with Land Development Regulations and the Alachua County Comprehensive Plan. The DRC receives authority from Chapter 401 Article 5 of the Alachua County Unified Land Code.

Environmental Review Checklist

A checklist/worksheet has been prepared by the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department (EPD) to aid applicants in compliance with submittal requirements for applications to the Development Review Committee (DRC). While address of natural resource areas and characteristics is required at the DRC level of review, applicants should note that discussion of these items also is recommended for land use or zoning change applications. In either case, application process time will be minimized by timely, adequate responses to the identified items.
