Highlights

Storage Tank Facilities inspected annually in Alachua County: 300

Average percent of Facilities in compliance with state regulations: 94%

Alachua County EPD is contracted with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to ensure that storage tank facilities are in compliance with state and federal regulations.

The primary focus of inspections is to protect the countys groundwater from being contaminated with petroleum or other hazardous substances and to assist facility owners with keeping their facility in compliance.

All underground storage tank systems must be double-walled by December 31, 2009 to meet the state's upgrade schedule.
