ROCK CREEK MOBILE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT

A total of 38 residents participated in the Rock Creek Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, properly disposing of over 1,400 pounds of products including propane tanks (100 pounds), aerosol cans (25 pounds), fluorescent lamps (37 pounds), pesticides (15 pounds), flammables (145 pounds), latex paint (680 pounds), used oils (40 pounds), batteries (60 pounds), and electronics (300 pounds).

HAILE PLANTATION MOBILE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT

A total of 84 residents participated in the Haile Plantation Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, properly disposing of over 3,680 pounds of products such as paints (560 pounds), pesticides and poisons (180 pounds), household cleaners (125 pounds), fertilizers (90 pounds), oil and other automotive fluids (325 pounds) and electronics such as computer and TVs (570 pounds). The collection at Haile has taken place every six months for the past four years and continues to be a huge success.

12TH ANNUAL LATEX PAINT GIVEAWAY SUCCESSFUL

The 12th Annual recycled Latex Paint Giveaway was held beginning on April 29, 2006 at the Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Center. A total of 2,200 gallons of 75% post consumer recycled latex paint was distributed to people with special needs, charitable groups and civic organizations at no charge to assist in painting homes and buildings in Alachua County. Paint and other products are also available at no cost for residents at the Reuse/Recycle Area of the Hazardous Waste Collection Center, located at 5125 NE 63rd Avenue. TOWN OF MICANOPY MOBILE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT

A total of 45 residents participated in the Town of Micanopy Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, properly disposing of over 3,500 pounds of material that could have been landfilled or improperly disposed. This annual collection has increased in participation every year since it began 5 years ago.

PLEASANT STREET NEIGHBORHOOD MOBILE HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT

A total of 24 residents participated in the Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event, and properly disposed of 900 pounds of material, including the following:

Used oil 50 pounds Latex paint 200 pounds Electronic equipment (TVs/computers) 350 pounds Lawn equipment (mowers) 250 pounds Household cleaners/pesticides 50 pounds
