Adopt-A-County-Road Program

The Adopt-a-County-Road Program is a means for citizens, civic organizations, neighborhood groups, churches, etc. to provide a community service by agreeing to pick up litter on a section of roadway that they "adopt." The agreement between group and County calls for a pickup of trash on the adopted road four times a year. The county provides all the necessary equipment for the clean-ups, as well as erecting an attractive permanent sign recognizing the group's participation. No cost is involved for the participant.

First, choose an available road that you would like to adopt. For a list of adoptable roads, contact Butch Skipper, Senior Engineering Technician, at (352) 374-5245 x212 or email bskipper@alachuacounty.us.

Next, fill out an application to join the program. Have all the members of your group sign either the adult volunteer agreement or the youth volunteer agreement.

Then, clean your road at least four times a year following the Adopt-a-County Road Safety Recommendations.

Finally, turn in a Litter Removal Report Form to get credit for your good work.
