Mission
To provide innovative solutions to challenges facing the Solid Waste Management Division, and to ensure that the Division's facilities operate in a manner that is a source of pride to employees and to the community
Objectives
- Annually update long-term solid waste management planning options to reflect changes in technology, regulations and economics
- Maintain the five closed landfills to meet or exceed permit requirements: 100 percent compliance on FDEP inspections
- Manage current and future capital projects and contracts to meet or exceed schedules, budgets and design criteria
- Operate the long-term care program for the Southwest Landfill so as to maintain the escrow account balance for 30 year sufficiency
- Operate the NWLF, SELF, NELF and NE Auxiliary landfill monitoring programs to meet annual budgeted amounts.
Functions
- Economic and technical analysis of solid waste management practices
- Determination of tipping fees associated with waste disposal
- Evaluation of new technologies in solid waste management
- Evaluation of environmental protection measure at Waste Management Divisions' solid waste facilities
- Prepare long term care cost estimate for financial assurance report.
