Landfills

The Office of Engineering & Compliance monitors and maintains all closed landfills in compliance with federal and state regulations. Closed County landfills in Alachua County include the Southwest, Northwest, Northeast, Northeast Auxiliary, and Southeast Landfills.

Responsibilities

overseeing routine sampling of monitoring wells and stormwater out-falls for contaminants and water quality
overseeing remediation of contaminated areas when necessary
quarterly sampling of gas probes
